Couldn't have asked for a better vacation- From the beginning of the communications with Curtis and Claire to the good byes from the onsite staff and Janna, it really was everything we hoped for plus some! Keep in mind, this is not a big city or 5 star "resort" style getaway but it is a 10/10 star experience. Its perfect for a true unplugged connection with nature and all the glory of Glacier Bay. The excursions were all lead by knowledgeable folks who kept us safe and entertained the entire time. Special call out to Bud, top notch local and boat captain- super fun! The fishing was great, I would advise more than one day of fishing or ask for Luke if you want to bring home a ton of fish. But also keep in mind you will be carrying those boxes of fish home with you as checked luggage through the airlines. The staff will flash freeze and package your fish well enough to make the journey. The food? Chef restaurant level- you choose your dinner when you show up for breakfast- even the sandwich bag lunches were top level, not basic and boring sliced white bread with a slice of cheese and ham. You get a "fancy" sandwich, chips, fruit, candy, and a cute little note written on your bag! The towels are the freshest best smelling ever! If you stay in the two bedroom suite, be prepared for lots of space, great views and a HUGE tub- bring bubble bath if you are into that kind of thing!! Janna and team were the absolute best- Lindon and Wyatt were absolute gems! On the flight there, MANY people knew of the Inn and the team by name, they mentioned they had been there MANY times, I see why- legit! I have many pictures, many videos, and many memories!
This lodge is amazing. We came with our teen and 20's kids and had some of our best days ever. We tend to vacation on the more adventurous side and this one ranks in our top. The lodge staff was great about planning our excursions and somehow got everything to fit in to our allowed days. Staff drives you everywhere you need to go for the excursions and they pack your lunch for you. All of the meals were delicious and every dinner was next level. My kids had never eaten that well. The chef is amazing and the servers were great. Every day we came back to a cleaned room. We spent a lot of evening time in the new rec room playing the games and watching TV in the theater. We did two days fishing on a nice boat with an experienced captain, and were thrilled to see our kids pull in huge halibut...like as tall as us. Then we did some ocean kayaking/whale watching. We grabbed the lodge bicycles and did a fun bike and hike. Our favorite day was the glacier bay full day private tour. Highly recommend the Glacier Bay Country Inn and the excursions they provide.
We had an amazing time here. The staff was amazing, the food was delicious and they do all the planning for you. We went with our two kids (11 and 13) and they had an amazing time also. We even saw bears when having dinner.
Glacier Bay Country Inn is located in one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Grand views of the mountains and forestry. The cabin was a great place to stay and recover after a long day of fishing. I would definitely recommend this business and hope to visit it again. The fishing was amazing, going out on the water with a professional fishing captain that knows and loves the area. I was able to see humpback whales, catch King Salmon, and I hooked into a very large halibut and was able to land it.
Our trip was a 4 day fishing trip heading out there on June 18th. We stayed in the large cabin with 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and large living room. It was amazing. We had amazing fishing trips. Caught our limit every day. They had breakfast, lunch, and dinner prepared every day. Everyone was very very friendly and nice. Great place for kids as well. Since they have a clubhouse with a pool table, pin pong table, basketball game, an awesome arcade deer hunting game, and one of the coolest things that was in the clubhouse was a golf simulator (only right-handed clubs though). They had a community area at night where you can roast marshmallows by the fire or just tell fish stories. There is a walking trail you can go on from the camp. They have bikes if you would like to go for a bike ride. Lastly there were 2 horseshoe pits that we took full advantage of. Our fridge was stocked to the brim with sodas and waters. The food was amazing. Especially the sweat potato Bisque (highly recommend). It was an amazing trip. Highly recommend it for all age groups. I would give it 10 stars it I could. All the staff were highly attentive, fun, nice, and never make you feel out of place.
The lodge has fantastic rooms, clean cabins and the food is great. We have seen wolves, eagles and bears from the dining room. The best part of Glacier Bay Country Inn (GBCI) is their customer service it's just spectacular, top notch. They pick you up at the airport, provide most transportation and will help make arrangements for whale watching, glacier viewing, fishing, bike riding and so much more. GBCI will help make your Alaskan vacation a “trip of a lifetime”. They took us daily to the docks to fish. We were supplied with fresh donuts, coffee and lunch for our day on the water. At the end of the fishing day we and our catch were met at the dock. The fish was taken to the Inn; professionally processed then frozen and made ready for travel. Jana, Curtis and the rest of the staff's customer service makes this lodge a must when staying in Gustavus. I have stayed at 5 different lodges in Gustavus, Glacier Bay Country Inn is the best, it’s where I stay. We are very grateful to have found GBCI. Thanks Glacier Bay Country Inn you’re the best.
This place is awesome! The lodging is high-quality and very very clean. I came home to a freshly made bed everyday. I stayed in a cabin with my family and it felt plenty spacious and very cozy. The food was next level. Everyday was something different and it was all good. There was a breakfast buffet with the standard items, but they took requests for your preferred egg as well. Lunch was always a really good sandwhich with plenty of snacks and treats. Dinner was an amazing 3 course meal with large portions, and those deserts... yum. The best part was the daily excursions. We fished for 2 days and caught fish the same size as me! We also kayaked, took the lodge bikes for a ride to a cool hike nearby, and, my favorite part, a private tour to a jaw-dropping glacier. On that tour, we saw whales breaching, islands full of sea lions, seals floating on ice, and a glacier 1 mile wide with no other people in sight. The staff was so polite, kind, and hardworking. I specifically want to shout of Hailey and Wyatt for being so awesome. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
